My Glasgow Kitchen

My Little Corner of the World

After shopping for a door, I was still undecided. So I decided to list down my requirement for a door and the pros and cons of each option.

Door Requirement

  • Water Resistant- The door needs to be weather proof as it will be exposed to rain. The wet kitchen floor might also be washed/ hosed down.
  • Key lock inside- The exhaust fan is right next to the door.
  • Aesthetics- A minimalist design. Looks plain from the inside.
  • 2 doors- The inner door opens inwards (hinge inside) and outer door opens outwards. 2 doors are also functional; I could open the door while cooking.
  • Price- Not too expensive
  • Sturdy door

Our Decision

We have decided to go with a wooden door.

I have listed the options above for a future replacement door.

  1. I am very happy to read this. This is the kind of manual that needs to be given and not the random misinformation that’s at the other blogs. Appreciate your sharing this best doc.
