One of the basics on designing a kitchen layout is the Kitchen Triangle. It is ensures an ergonomic layout and a smooth workflow.
NKBA guidelines suggest that each leg should be 4-9 feet and sum of the legs should be 13-26 feet and no major traffic flow through the triangle.
This is the design of my future kitchen using a free design software.
- Inadequate countertop space for prepping between sink and stove
- Busy workflow traffic to the back door
There are many other things to take into consideration such as budget, kitchen size, house layout and functionality. The newer concept is using kitchen zones to plan the layout.
