I came across this rosette leafy vegetable in my supermarket. The stem seems to have a texture of choi sum and the arrangement looks a bit like pak choy. And I guessed it close enough as it belongs to the brassica rapa family which includes pak choy, napa cabbage, choi sum etc. The literal translation from Chinese Language ‘塌菜’ is drooping vegetable and translation from Malay Language ‘Sawi Pagoda’ is pagoda mustard greens.


I stir fried it with oil and garlic then added salt to taste.



Flavour wise, it is quite similar to choi sum but less leafy. Choi sum and pak choi are cheaper it won’t be my first choice when doing my leafy green shop.
